February? It Is A Good Month

Critics of America..........You need a little bit of February in you.  It is a good month.  Why?  Well, today is The second of February.  It is Groundhog Day.  The groundhog announces the coming of Spring, which will arrive in about 46 days.  Spring?  Yes, a pretty special season.

What else?  The 12th, it is the birthday of the greatest President this country ever had.  Of course, it is just my opinion, but the works of Abraham Lincoln are hard to match.  The Gettysburg address is one of the greatest speeches ever made anywhere and during any era.  And the words "with malice toward none and charity (love) for all," ring the bells of great prose.

What about February 14th?  Look out for that one! It is the day that celebrates love! Love is eternal.  "The greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:13)  In other words; there is nothing greater than love.  Apparently, love is pretty special.  I am glad there is a day that is dedicated toward helping us remember that love is very deserving of celebration.

We do not live in a perfect Country.  But I am convinced we live in a great Country.  It is a Country that emphasizes freedom, fairness and opportunity.  Our Federal (or national) government has developed a Constitution, and has included allowances in it for change.  We do not have tyrants, dictators, or kings to direct, lead and guide our great Nation.  We have a President.  And with the help of many in accordance with the system of the Federal government.  He leads the Nation.  President's Day (Feb. 18) is set aside to celebrate the office of The President of the United States.

February 22nd is George Washington's birthday.  He was born on February 22, 1732.  He is known as the "Father Of Our Country."  He was a hero, of the American Revolution.  General George Washington became President George Washington after the War.  The very first President of our great Nation.  He served two terms, from 1789 to 1797.

There you have them.  Five holidays in the shortest month of the year.  Get some "February in you," especially some "February 14th."  Go for it.
