Two Letters To Yahoo.....8 Thumbs Up

About three weeks ago, I sent two short letters to Yahoo in response to an article that was written about a famous male singer who is gay. I wrote my opinion and received positive feedback. I saw no responses that disagreed with my point of view. Obviously there are those who disagree with my viewpoint. Apparently, they chose not to respond.

Letter No. I

"Sodomy is unhealthy sexual intercourse. It weakens the sphincter muscles. After a period of time, it is necessary for the penetrant to wear diapers because he cannot control his bowel movements. The diseases and health conditions that this lifestyle creates will continue to be a growing burden on the taxpayers of our great nation."

Letter No. II

"Homosexuality is a sin against God. This truth will not change because it is an eternal truth. Just because certain truths are unpopular with certain segments of the population does not cause those truths to cease to be truths. Nobody, and I mean nobody has ever been born gay. It is an orientation. It is a CHOICE. I choose to declare the truth. Another truth: It is a sin to hate someone. Therefore, I refuse to hate anyone. Am I perfect? No. Only the King of kings is perfect. His name is Jesus. Give Him your life. Give Him your future. He loves you like nobody else could ever love you. He is the power of God. He is the wisdom of God."

Some of my NFL Predictions

Tomorrow, four NFL teams will be battling it out for the championships of their respective conferences. In the morning, the Baltimore Ravens will compete against the New England Patriots on the Patriots home field in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The outcome of this game will determine who will be the AFC Champions. In the afternoon, the New York Giants will compete against the San Francisco 49ers on the 49ers home field to determine the NFC Champions. At this time, I will not discuss points/point spread, favorites, offenses, defenses, special teams, quarterbacks, strategies or the possibility of going into overtime. In the morning, the Baltimore Ravens will defeat the New England Patriots. In the afternoon, the San Francisco 49ers will defeat the New York Giants. On February 5, 2012, the Ravens will face the 49ers in Super Bowl 46. This will be the first time in NFL history that two competing head coaches in a Super Bowl are brothers. The game will be played in Indianapolis, Indiana.

My Letter To Town Hall Regarding Faith

There are many unkind words, name-calling and hatred in these comments. The bottom line is this: We all need Jesus. None of us need religion, candle lighting, parades with wagons carrying statues, etc. We need the Word of God inside of us. Are you so naive to actually think that this great nation evolved by acccident? Jesus is 100% God. He became a man and dwelt among us. He is the Word made flesh. The USA is an imperfect nation because it is full of human beings. But listen: HUMAN BEINGS THAT HAVE THE WORD OF GOD INSIDE OF THEM CONDUCT THEMSELVES DIFFERENTLY THAN THOSE WHO JUST PRACTICE RELIGION, RELIGIOSITY AND RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." Nobody on this planet is righteous. "There is none righteous, no, not one." The only righteousness that exists is derived from the Word of God, not from the hearts of men. Please read II Chronicles 7:14. Check it out for yourself. If you have a better idea, I sure would like to hear it. Give your life to Jesus. He is God. The founders of this country surely believed it. We have reaped the benefits of it, even though the country is not perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect country. But we have a perfect Jesus. Give Him your life.

Anne F. Ratner.........1911-2011

I never met the woman. I don't remember ever seeing her. I knew one of her relatives. I also remember buying something at the store which bore the name: "Ratners." It was located on Market Street in downtown San Diego. Why would I write something about a lady that I never met? Because she accomplished a great deal during her lifetime. She definitely contributed to the betterment of this world while she was alive. She is an example for others to follow. Anne F. Ratner died of natural causes on Nov. 9, 2011. She was 100 years of age. Mrs. Ratner had devoted much of her long life toward improving the lives of others. The information I share in this blog; I obtained from an obituary column of the San Diego Union Tribune, written by Linda MCintosh, dated Wednesday November 23, 2011. In my view: Mrs. Ratner's life, and her contributions to society continue to speak.

She was instrumental in opening the EyeMobile, which serves low income children at the Shiley Eye Center, and she established UCSD's Ratner Children's Eye Center in 1995, which not only helps children in the US, but trains doctors from around the world. Mrs. Ratner was a volunteer and philanthropist. "She cared deeply for her community," said her granddaughter, Lisa Foster, a San Diego Superior Court judge. She was a founding member of the San Diego Opera and served on the executive committee of the San Diego Symphony board of directors, becoming an honorary life member of the board. She was known as a matriarch of the Tifereth Israel congregation in San Carlos, where she and her husband endowed the Abraham Ratner Torah School and where she founded the Sisterhood at Tifereth Israel Synagogue. After World War II, she helped resettle refugees from Europe. She was the founder of the Women's Division of the United Jewish Federation. "She believed strongly that Jewish people should be involved not just in the Jewish community, but in the greater community," Foster said. Mrs. Ratner was a founding member of the Women's Auxiliary of Salk Institute. The Salvation Army Door of Hope honored her. She and her husband were honored by the Meals on Wheels program. She supported scholarships at UCSD and established a fund for breast cancer research and stem cell research. She was honored posthumously with the Chancellor's Medal of Honor, one of the highest awards from UCSD. I salute Anne F.Ratner. She did great things. She leaves a legacy that is honorable. In closing, I would just leave this thought by an anonymous source: "A person is not honored for what he or she receives, a person is honored for what he or she gives."

Don't Be Afraid Of Anything

Fear is usually based on things that we fear but that have not actually taken place. Don't be afraid to make that commitment. After you make it, do your best to reach your goals. Do not fail to try something that is really potentially of benefit to you and/or others. Weigh the possible consequences before you try. This makes sense, but fear does not make sense. What are you afraid of? Possible humiliation? Believe it or not: Humiliation can eventually turn to honor. Are you afraid of getting physically injured? Take precautions, but do not be afraid. Be wise, but do not be afraid. Be prepared, but do not be afraid. Go ahead, take it on. Know that it is the proper thing to do.

"The Happiness and Prosperity of Our Citizens"

I know that it sounds idealistic, perhaps even unrealistic, but I agree 100% with Thomas Jefferson's quote regarding the purpose of government. Does the government exist to tax the citizenry unfairly? Does the government exist in order to go to war and subjugate other nations? Does the government exist so that its' leaders can make arbitrary decisions, inconvenience many and benefit a few? Does the government exist to make its' leaders rich? A resounding no to all of those questions. We live in an imperfect world with imperfect people, but that does not mean that we need to tolerate wrong doing, unethical conduct, and blatant violation of laws by anybody. We need to continue to "fight the good fight" and pursue the "object of government."

"The happiness and prosperity of our citizens is the only legitimate object of government."
-- Thomas Jefferson
(1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President

Little Gangster (Part 15)

They called him "Cuatro." He thought he was bad. He was in the eighth grade. He was around 4' 8" and weighed around 85 pounds. He combed his hair in a pompadour, which rose about two inches above his scalp, and he applied generous amounts of "Three Flowers" pomade to it. He was actually a handsome boy, but he had a sneer on his face and a great deal of pride, fear and anger. He claimed to be a gang member. He was in special education classes in school because he had several learning disabilities. Cuatro thought he was cool. One day a cute girl transferred to 3 of his classes. He was stricken by her. To say he liked her would be an under-statement. He was overwhelmed by her. Her name was Alma. Alma was nice to him but she did not like him very much. She liked another boy in the special ed class. His name was Mateo. Mateo did not fancy himself to be cool or anything like that. He liked to have fun and entertain others. He liked to laugh. He was an outgoing and genuine 13 year old young man. Alma and Mateo talked. They hit it off. They were comfortable together. Cuatro was shy and jealous. One day after school. Cuatro challenged Mateo and told him to quit talking to Alma. "Stay away from Alma, punk or I'll kick your ass!" Mateo was not impressed, he told Cuatro to stay away from him. Cuatro kept bugging him. Mateo was not a real bright young man but he was a happy kid. Nevertheless he did a wise thing. He went home and told his dad. Mateo's dad was very protective of him. The dad immediately called the school and went there shortly thereafter. He was visibly upset. Cuatro was still hanging around the campus. The assistant principal called in the three persons (Cuatro, Mateo, and Mateo's dad) Mateo's dad started yelling. The AP noticed that Cuatro was a little bit scared. "I don't give a damn about that little shrimp in there, my son will knock him out. Mateo takes karate lessons!" Cuatro started to get very nervous. He pressed his face against the glass of the door, fogging it up. He kept repeating the following words over and over: "sobran batos, sobran batos, sobran batos." By this he meant that there were plenty of guys around who would be willing to beat Mateo up. Cuatro proceeded to try to be a tough guy to impress the kids who had gathered around the office. He got suspended. He did not want to go back to school. He was embarassed. His mother had him transferred to another school.

Keep Up The Good Work, Israel !

Keep up the good work, Israel! You accomplish great things. You have a great culture and history. You emphasize education and a belief in God. You cherish freedom. You try to be just and kind. Many do not understand you. They accuse you. They say and do cruel things to you. You are hated by many of your neighbors. You struggle. You move on. You succeed. Your main problem is that so many people are envious of you. They too, want to succeed, but they do not know how. If they could only learn from you. You are not unwilling to teach them. Teaching is in your history. I have learned a great deal from you. I have learned from the greatest. I have learned from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel and Amos. Many others have also taught me, including the "Great Apostle," more commonly known as St. Paul. I have been taught by the best. But the greatest one of all time, and I mean ALL TIME, is Jesus. His teachings turned this world upside down, actually, I mean right side up. The mind I think with, the heart I love with, the body I work with, the spirit I exist with, and the soul I hunger to accompany God with: are all filled with Jesus. He makes everything possible. His name is called Immanuel. Jesus is the mighty God and the everlasting Father. God taught me these truths through the writings of Isaiah. Please refer to 7:14 and 9:6. One thing God cannot do is lie. Jesus Christ is God. "He who has seen me has seen the Father." (John 14:9) "Salvation is from the Jews." (John 4:22) Keep up the good work, Israel!
