Freedom, Prosperity, Power, Socialism And Taxes

I know that some might  consider it to be hyperbole, nevertheless, the following quotes (from certain scholars, not God) cause us to think about government power and the ability it has to tax.  When we throw terms around like "prosperity," "freedom," "socialism," and "power," we are discussing reality.  What can we do about it?  We can be aware.  We can be informed.  At times, we can be involved.  We can refuse to feel hopeless and helpless.  We can be positive, happy and grateful.  We can remember that it is not a perfect world.  We can be balanced. We can pray, praise, and give thanks.  We can present our petitions before God........in Jesus' name.  We can be obedient to the Word of God.  We can have faith.  We can remember that God is love.  We can remember that Jesus said:  "Give unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God, the things that are God's."  On one occasion, he even performed a miracle so He could pay a tax.  (money in the mouth of a fish)  I love Jesus.  He is the best.  He is the everlasting Father.  (Isa. 9:6)  He is the almighty.  (Rev. 1:8)  He comforts us.  He is able to make the things we worry about......to be irrelevant.

"Subsidies entail politicians’ taking the citizen’s paycheck and then using it to buy his submission."
James Bovard American author,  lecturer

"As I watch government at all levels daily eat away at our freedom, I keep thinking how prosperity and government largesse have combined to make most of us fat and lazy and indifferent to, or actually
in favor of, the limits being placed on that freedom."    Lyn Nofziger (1924-2006) American journalist, political consultant, author, Press Secretary for President Reagan

"The Act of Congress which we are impugning before you is communistic in its purposes and tendencies, and is defended here upon principles as communistic, socialistic - what shall I call them - populistic as ever have been addressed to any political assembly in the world."
Joseph H. Choate (1832-1917) attorney who successfully challenged the Income Tax Act of 1894

Who could impose such socialistic confiscatory rates?"
 William E. Borah1865-1940) United States Senator (R-Idaho)

"One of the most insidious consequences of the present burden of personal income tax is that it strips many middle class families of financial reserves; seems to lend support to campaigns for socialized medicine, socialized housing, socialized food, socialized every thing. The personal income tax has made the
individual vastly more dependent on the State; more avid for state hand-outs. It has shifted the balance in America from an individual-centered to a State-centered economic, social system."
 W. H. Chamberlin(1897-1969) American historian, journalist, author

26,000 Rapes In The Military

We battle with political correctness and its repercussions.  Nevertheless, I am aware that the military has offered men and women opportunities for training, employment and an advenurous lifestyle. At this time, I do not necessarily see a resolution for this problem. I hope I am wrong, but I suspect commanders will continue to do little, and they will not let go of the authority, they will not allow this to be taken out of their chain of command. Yes, the system will continue to "be broken." Male soldiers will be warned, but nature is nature. "Gender equity" is the reason for this problem. You cannot have it both ways. If genders were equal, this would not be a problem because there would be no rapes. Genders are not equal......they are opposites. This is nature's way of populating the earth. The elimination of "don't ask, don't tell" is part of the problem. The denial of freedom of religion is part of the problem. The increase of male on male rape is also relevant. As of late, women will be offered the opportunity to be Navy seals and Army Rangers. It is extremely naive to think that the closeness and comraderie of these groups will not cause further problems. This is all being done in the name of political correctness. The military has its own correctness.  Does it really need to march in step with the rest of society?  Yes, in some ways.  No, in others. It has its own protocols. It does not need civilians to be dictating things that will further complicate a very serious issue. My advice to young women thinking of joining the military: do not do it. Or, if you are determined to be a military person: wait until you are older. Wait and see how these rape scandals play out. The best to you........from an old soldier.

100 Years......A Long Life?

Recently I read that more and more people are reaching the age of 100.  In my view, 100 or a bit more years is not a long time.  A long life has its place.  It is a blessing.  I neither criticize those who achieve it, nor would I reject it for myself.  Nevertheless, I am more of a proponent of a quality life than a long life.  A long, fruitful life would be ideal.  By fruitful, I mean service to God.  Our works, our prayers are still operating after we are long gone.

"I have been young, and now I am old, and I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor His seed begging bread." (Ps. 37:25) Have faith. Be rewarded. Seek God. "For he who comes to God must believe that He is and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Heb. 11:6) Do you think 100 years is a long life? Well........ not compared to eternal life.

Some People Cannot Apologize, Forgive Them Anyway

I know some people, perhaps many, will not agree with me.  Nevertheless, I believe that what I am saying is true.  It is the better road to take.  Forget about pride.  "Pride goes before destruction and a haughty look before a fall."  (Prov. 16:18)  Do not allow a wrong (or wrongs) suffered to control you and eat away at your well-being.  Life has far too much to offer.  I am not saying to anyone to be unrealistic, masochistic or unreasonable with yourself.  I am saying......we must forgive.  You have a great deal going for you.  This is probably the reason someone did you wrong.  You are not perfect.  You may or may have not  made a mistake.  Someone lowered the boom.  They may have done you wrong to express their jealousy of you while trying to veil it.  Forgiveness should not be accompanied with feelings of expectations that the offender should apologize or change his/her ways.  Don't worry if they understand or not, or if they feel contrite.  You have a life to live.  You have choices.   Many new adventures and experiences await.  Forgive those people.  Love them.  I am not necessarily suggesting that they become your best friends, either.  They are probably gone. Let them go.  Refusing to forgive is a poor substitute for comfort.  It is a form of vengeance.  Vengeance does not belong to us.  It belongs to God.  Some people cannot apologize.  They have not been taught to do so, or they have just been taught wrong.  Maybe they have too much pride.  Forgive them anyway.

Pray For Your National Leaders (and everyone)

I know this nation is temporary.  All nations are.  All governments are as well.  But we are here.  There are things to do.  There are tasks and responsibilities to be accomplished.  We live here and now.  It is not possible to live in the future.  We think about the future.  We plan for the future.  However, we live our lives one day at a time, moment to moment.  That is just the way it is.  We need to pray for our leaders.  It is the will of God.  Apostle Paul, in his first letter to Timothy, tells us of the importance of this.  I would like to note that the Word says "everyone," but that there is a special emphasis for "kings and all in authority."

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."
(1 Timothy 2: 1-4)

School Safety

Recently, as a response to an email I received from  the National School Safety and Security Services, I wrote this short letter to them.  Their letter to me had to do with keeping school campuses safe.  I have the solution.  Here it is.

The Word of God is the greatest weapon known to mankind. If it is not used to fight against evil doers, we are truly missing the boat. In actuality: There is absolutely nothing more powerful anywhere and anytime........than the Word of God. Why? Because the Word of God is God. It is a devil-chasing weapon. It is the sharpest sword there is. We must employ it. The founders of this country knew this. The country evolved into the greatest nation on earth. I am not proposing that we become a theocracy. I am proposing we solve problems. The Word of God is truth. Use it, and acquire freedom. Do not use it, then........tyranny here we come.  The students in this nation deserve the best.  The truth is the best.  "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8: 32)

God bless you.

Same Sex Marriage.......A Trojan Horse

Yes, I know, it is coming.  The fight goes on.  Parental respnsibilities have always been challenging.  This will not change.  There is no easy route.  The job must be done.  The job must be done properly.  Mistakes will be made.  There are no perfect parents.  One thing for certain:  It is the duty of the parent to teach the child proper gender identification.  If there are any questions about this......gender was chosen by our divine maker the moment of conception.  In the name of freedom, laziness, stubborness and ignorance; many parents have chosen not to do their jobs and have allowed their children to choose gender roles that were not destined for them. Every child has a destiny.  Some may not live very long.  But every child has a destiny.  If born a male.....destined to be a male.  If born a female....destined to be a female.  The rest "we carve out."  We work out our destiny.  Men marry women.  That is just the way it is.  Same sex marriage is an attempt to destroy traditional gender identification.  Once that happens, what is next?  Something that is not good.  When the "Horse is in the land," it will eventually release more and more enemies of that which is decent and lasting.  We must fight against it.  "Endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."
 (2 Tim. 2: 3)

To Be Special? It Will Come

If you want to be special; if you want to be unique; if you want to be remembered, then do not try to be.  Just do this: be good, be kind, be honest.  It will be a challenge.  Yes, it will be a challenge to be good and not expect others to be good in return.  Yes, it will be a challenge to be honest and kind.  Just do not expect everyone else to be honest and kind.  Generally, when you are good, kind and honest, others will respond the same way.  Be happy when they do.  Don't be frustrated when they don't.  Social graces are not a given.  Morality is not a given.  Yes, we have laws against certain conduct, but the law is not directly involved in our daily social interaction, and it is not necessarily a crime to be rude or  have a poor attitude.  Make your decision to be good.  Make your decision to be good, kind and  honest.  You will not regret it.  You will have made this a better world to live in.  Will you be special?  Yes.  Maybe  right away, maybe later on, but it will come.

The Royal Rangers: Possibly A Greater Role

I am of the opinion that all parents who want to continue to keep their young sons in scouting should seriously consider enlisting their sons in The Royal Rangers.  It is similar to the Boy Scouts of America but it is  Biblically based and it is run by an evangelical Christian organization.  Because of the latest developments that have been taking place in the Boy Scouts of America organization, I think the Royal Rangers will be playing a greater role.  The following information was taken from the website of the Royal Rangers.

Emblem: The Royal Rangers Emblem is a stylized emblem containing points in three different colors: Red, Blue, and Gold. The four red points represent "the four main teachings of the church": salvation, baptism of the Holy Spirit, healing, and second coming. The four gold points denote the four ways a person grows: mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially. Finally, the eight blue points represent the virtues that make up the Ranger Code Pledge:  With God’s help, I will do my best to serve God, my church, and my fellowman; to live by the Ranger Code; to make the Golden Rule my daily rule.

Code A Royal Ranger is: Alert, Clean, Honest, Courageous, Loyal, Courteous, Obedient, Spiritual.

ALERT. He is mentally, physically, and spiritually alert.

CLEAN. He is clean in body, mind, and speech.

HONEST. He does not lie, cheat, or steal.

COURAGEOUS. He is brave, in spite of danger, criticism, or threats.

LOYAL. He is faithful to his church, family, outpost, and friends.

COURTEOUS. He is polite, kind, and thoughtful.

OBEDIENT. He obeys his parents, leaders, and those in authority.

SPIRITUAL. He prays, reads the Bible, and witnesses.

Motto:  Ready. Ready for anything. Ready to work, play, serve, worship, live, and obey God's Word.

Just 4 Quotes About The IRS

"This [audit] was made extremely difficult because [IRS] existing Systems were not designed to provide reliable financial information... on their operations."

Charles A. Bowsher  Comptroller, Government Accounting Office

"Congress has doubled the IRS budget over the past 10 years -- making that agency one of the fastest growing non-entitlement programs. It has increased its employment by 20 percent. The IRS’s powers to investigate and examine taxpayers transcend those of any other law enforcement agency. Virtually all of the constitutional rights regarding search and seizure, due process, and jury trial simply do not apply to the IRS."

 Daniel Pilla

"The theory of the IRS is rather repugnant to me because the assumption is made that I, the government, owns 100% of your income and I permit you to keep 5%, 10% or 20%. You're vulnerable, you've sold out. The government can take 80% if they want, which they did at one time."

Dr. Ron Paul   (1935-) American physician, US Congressman (R-TX), US Presidential candidate

"Only the IRS can attach 100% of a tax debtor's wages and/or property.
Only the IRS can invade the privacy of a citizen without court process of any kind.
Only the IRS can seize property without a court order.
Only the IRS can force a citizen to try his case in a special court governed by the IRS.
Only the IRS can compel the production of documents, records, and other materials without a court case being in existence.
Only the IRS can with impunity publish the details of a citizens debt.
Only the IRS can legally, without a court order, subject citizens to electronic surveillance.
Only the IRS can force waiver of statute of limitations and other citizen's rights through the threat of Arbitrary assessment.
Only the IRS uses extralegal coercion. Threats to witnesses to examine their taxes regularly produces whatever evidence the IRS dictates.
Only the IRS is free to violate a written agreement with a citizen.
Only the IRS uses reprisals against citizen and public officials alike.
Only the IRS can take property on the basis of conjecture.
Only the IRS is free to maintain lists of citizen guilty of no crime for the purpose of harassing and monitoring them.
Only the IRS envelops all citizens.
Only the IRS publicly admits that it's purpose is to instill fear in the citizenry as a technique of performing it's function."

 George V. Hansen       (1930-) US Congressman    (R-ID)

Democrats And Civil Rights

These are just 7 historical examples examples of how the American Democratic Party has dealt with civil rights issues in this country.  Just like Malcolm  X said:  "A Democrat is nothing but a Dixiecrat in disguise."

– July 30, 1866: New Orleans’s Democratic government ordered police to raid an integrated GOP meeting, killing 40 people and injuring 150.

– September 28, 1868: Democrats in Opelousas, Louisiana killed nearly 300 blacks who tried to foil an assault on a Republican newspaper editor.

– October 7, 1868: Republicans criticized Democrats’ national slogan: “This is a white man’s country: Let white men rule.”

– April 20, 1871: The GOP Congress adopted the Ku Klux Klan Act, banning the pro-Democrat domestic terrorist group.

– October 18, 1871: GOP President Ulysses S. Grant dispatched federal troops to quell Klan violence in South Carolina.

– September 14, 1874: Racist white Democrats stormed Louisiana’s statehouse to oust GOP Governor William Kellogg’s racially integrated administration; 27 are killed.

– August 17, 1937: Republicans opposed Democratic President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Supreme Court nominee, U.S. Senator Hugo Black (D., Al.), a former Klansman who defended Klansmen against race-murder charges.
