I'm Going On Vacation

I am going away for 8 days.  I may not have access to a computer where I am going.  Therefore, there is a good chance that I will not be writing blogs for a little while.  God bless you.  BD

Three Groups Spending Our Money

Children spend money that was earned by someone else.  This is okay.  Particularly since they cannot work.  They are children.  They can help out.  They can perform tasks  They can be taught how to do things that can assist someone and save someone some time and steps.  Children need to be supervised

Thieves break the law.  They steal money from stores, banks, houses, directly from people and other places. Sometimes they get caught.  Sometimes they don't.  When they go to jail or prison, they are supervised.

Politicians like to find ways to extract money from those they represent.  They do this by passing laws that involve fees, taxes and other payments that the people must then pay.  Politicians also need supervision, but it is much more difficult than the previous two groups.

After I saw the quote below, I really felt that I needed to expand on it a little bit.  Dick Armey hit the nail right on the head.

"Three groups spend other people's money: children, thieves, politicians.  All three need supervision."

Dick Armey                (1940- ) U.S. Congressman, TX-R

USA.......Influenced By The Word

The United States of America is a secular country.  It is not a theocracy.  It never has been.  It never will be.  It has operated under the persuasion inspired by the words of Jesus:  "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's."  The nation does not need to be "religion based" to have been influenced by the Word of God.  "Religion based" can be a confusing term.  I prefer to use the description "influenced by the Word."  It makes more sense.  Look at all of the monuments in Washington DC that make references to God and the Bible. We do not live under theocratic rule, nevertheless, every session of Congress opens with a prayer. We have military chaplains. Our coins and paper money say "In God we trust." Nearly all of the large universities of our great nation started off as Bible schools. All of our Presidents of the USA had knowledge of the Word of God. George Washington said that "it is impossible to govern a nation without the Word of God." Isaiah 33:22 is the basis for the 3 branches of government as stated in our Constitution. Additionally, "We are endowed by our CREATOR with certain unalienable rights." (caps mine) If our creator gave us those rights..........then the government is not able to take them away. At least that is what the founders thought. The facts are the facts, they are right in front of us. There is a whole lot more to say about this.

Remembering Sgt. Eric Holke

In his Army fatigues, he marched with 70 pounds of combat gear, 13 miles, to honor his buddy who was killed in combat.  Sgt. Eric Hille honored his fallen friend, Sgt. Eric Holke, on Memorial Day.  Hille is from Murrietta CA.  He walked to the Riverside National Cemetery.  On a Mission with Holke six years ago in Iraq, an IED took Holke's life.  Hille has decided to start a tradition.  He has earned respect for his decision.  As of yesterday, 20 marchers have already signed up for next year's memorial trek.  Thanks for your service ..........to both Sergeants.

My Response To Chelsea Clinton Re Same Sex Marriage

Chelsea Clinton stated: "It just seems so fundamental to me," while referring to "marriage equality."  Because I believe same sex marriage is forbidden by God.  Here is my response to Chelsea.
How can it be "marriage equality" when men and women are different genders? Same sex marriage is debauchery. It has absolutely nothing to do with equality, civil rights or justice. I cannot stop it, but I will never, ever agree with it. "It just seems so fundamental to me," Chelsea Clinton said. Is not "fundamental" something consistent through the ages, Chelsea? Fundamental? No human being has ever been conceived as a result of same sex intimacy. Now, that is fundamental. How can a so-called educated person make such a statement? I just have two questions: Are we a higher authority than our maker? Are we wiser than He? Ideally, no human being anywhere should ever be mistreated. This issue has nothing to do with the mistreatment of anyone. The proponents of this lifestyle have one main goal: They want legitimacy for their lifestyle. Is it not extremely naive? Were the thousands of societies that existed before us, that never condoned such a thing, all ignorant and bigoted? Are we more just than they? Will same sex marriage cause the culture to thrive? Will it benefit the long standing institutions of society?

Alexander Hamilton And Government

I agree with Alexander Hamilton, but apparently it is easier said than done to put into action some of the things he said.

"Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it."

Grover Cleveland And Taxes

Grover Cleveland had the vision to see the ruthlessness of unnecessary taxation.  He understood how simple the opportunity to do it could evolve.  He was the 24th US President.

"When more of the people's sustenance is exacted through the form of taxation than is necessary to meet the just obligations of government, such exaction becomes ruthless extortion and a violation of the fundamental principles of a free government."          Grover Cleveland (1837-1908)

I Know Some Lazy "Progressives"

Don't get me wrong.  Of course they are not all that way, but some are very political, so-called progressive people who do not like to work.  They like to talk.  They like to mobilize.  They like issues.  They look for "victims."  They seek so-called injustice.  I used to think that they were really for freedom.  I used to think that they really believed in an open forum of ideas.  I used to think that they were reasonable.  I used to think that they were for the working masses.  How can they be for the working masses when so many of them do not like to work?  I used to think they were leaders, or that they had leadership qualities.  They are still leaders, but only in their imagination.  Oh, they are for the worker, alright, they just do not like to work.  Maybe they figure: "well somebody has to pay taxes."   Many of them consider themselves to be "thinkers," but among them are the severely lazy.  They only want to work as bureaucrats in community funded agencies that produce nothing, offer nothing and are full of rude people.  Getting a monthly check from the government without working is an ideal for them so that they can sit in front of a computer and just "look stuff up."  Please do not misunderstand.  I am not angry. Things happen in our society, culture and economy that produce certain conditions and attitudes.  But in this society, the idea of practicing laziness, getting high, blaming others  and then seeking entitlements does not fare well.  During the early part of the last century, a social philosopher by the name of Ludwig von Mises had them pegged pretty well.

"The champions of socialism call themselves progressives, but they recommend a system which is characterized by rigid observance of routine and by a resistance to every kind of improvement. They call themselves liberals, but they are intent upon abolishing liberty. They call themselves democrats, but they yearn for dictatorship. They call themselves revolutionaries, but they want to make the government omnipotent. They promise the blessings of the Garden of Eden, but they plan to transform the world into a gigantic post office. Every man but one a subordinate clerk in a bureau. What an alluring utopia! What a noble cause to fight!"

Section 8?...........No Problem

I tend to connect everything that happens: good or bad......to the Word of God.  However, I always conclude that the Word of God is good, and not only good, but great.  Recently, I heard some people complaining about how a government housing program called Section 8 has ruined neighborhoods by creating an increase in crime and lowered the property values of suburban neighborhoods.  This is why the Gospel must be preached.  It must be preached to everyone.  Not all will believe.  Nevertheless, the Word of God must be preached because it changes minds and hearts.  It changes the lives of people for the better.  Their values will change.  They will have peace, joy and hope.  They will quit stealing, killing, harming and acting insane.  They will learn to be humble.  Very important, since pride is the most damaging thing on this planet. Those who believe and obey the Word will be blessed.  They will experience a burst of freedom they have never had before.   If certain people are taking unfair advantage of a government program and break laws; they can stop.  They can stop because they can change.  I know what I am talking about.  You can take a thug out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the thug.  But Jesus can.  Jesus gives people brand new lives and brand new starts.  Religion cannot really change a person's life for the better.  But Jesus can.  Jesus has.  Jesus does.  There is much more.........a whole lot more.

Socialism

I believe every great movement, great person, great idea,  or great system has hangers on, emulators and people who want to take advantage of the efforts of others.  Certain efforts create great results.  The free market system, capitalism, and the practice of private ownership has produced great results.  Yes, it is true that greed and mistreatment of the worker has existed.  Yes, it is true that the disregard for the health and safety of people has caused government to get involved in areas of the economy that they should have never been involved in.  Government should be a proponent of the free enterprise system and not the enemy of it.  Free enterprise has contributed to the greatness of the United States of America in a very large way.  Government at all levels should be business friendly.  If socialism exists in this great nation to the extent that small and large businesses cannot flourish, this will mark the beginning of the era of the The Third World status of the United States.  The quote below reflects my point of view.

"Socialism is not in the least what it pretends to be. It is not the pioneer of a better and finer world, but the spoiler of what thousands of years of civilization have created. It does not build, it destroys. For destruction is the essence of it. It produces nothing, it only consumes what the social order based on private ownership in the means of production has created."

Ludwig von Mises    (1881-1973) Economist and social philosopher

No Faith, No Morality, No Liberty

I have talked about this before.  Now, I talk about it again.  It is serious business to restrict the freedom of religion.  This great nation of the United States has had, and now has many people of faith.  When that freedom is restricted, then crime, chaos, anarchy, and tyranny knock on the door.  As I see it, it is like clockwork. By that, I mean that they follow as consequential. It is no coincidence that the Pentagon has reported that up to 26,000 military members may have been sexually assaulted last year, and that at the same time the military has been restricting freedom of religion.  26,000?  In addition, how many went unreported?  People in high places in the military should know better than to make foolish decisions that can seriously corrupt the integrity of the military.  Allowing the practice of faith.......yes......especially the Christian faith, has strengthened the military at all levels.  That is just the way it is.  Faith in the Word of God benefits everyone.  It was said many years ago by the French historian, Alexis de Tocqueville.  Incidently, he credited the preaching of the Word of God for producing the greatness of the United States.  I agree with him.

"Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith."
Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859) French historian

What Does Love Do?

What does love do, and not do?   Acording to I Corinthians 13, it does and doesn't the following:
1) Love suffers patiently
2) Love shows kindness
3) Love doesn’t envy
4) Love doesn’t brag
5) Love doesn’t act foolishly
6) Love doesn’t do things selfishly
7) Love isn’t easily disillusioned, defeated or frustrated
8) Love doesn’t think  evil thoughts
9) Love doesn't take pleasure in sin
10) Love bears anything and everything
11) Love believes anything and everything
12) Love hopes in anything and everything
13) Love never, ever fails

Rapes In The Military

Sometimes we just really need to reflect and to decide whether or not the decision to encourage more and more women to join the armed forces and work side by side with men as if there is no temptation, sex drive, lust, carnal desire, misinterpreted messages and the like. We really need to deal with reality. We really need to deal with things the way they are, and not the way we think they are or wish they should be. Rapes in the military are a high price to pay to try to achieve a so-called "gender equality." Lives are changed for the people involved, and not in a good way necessarily. I am not hearing any solutions to this problem. I just see a continuance of it. We need to try something. It is not too late to reinstate WACS, WAVES, WAMS and WAFS. Let them have their own barracks and heirarchy. At least let the military try it as an experiment in the "modern military." A new idea is an old idea. An old idea is a new idea. Do we really think that every soldier in the military will behave himself regardless of the environment created? What a mistake. It is extremely naive to think this way. There are probably better ideas than mine out there. I would sure like to hear them. Rapes in the miltary have become a serious scandal. It is possible to curtail much of this. I served my time in the US Army. During my tour of duty we seldom even heard of soldiers raping women, let alone raping other soldiers. I know it took place, but these days, it appears to be encouraged. It is pathetic.

My Response to an atheist

Henry  wrote a letter to a news outlet and in it he wrote that if there is a God, he is "stupid" and "cruel."  Some atheists are real thinkers who try their best to present logic and reasoning for why "God does not exist."  Of course they fail.  However, other atheists are downright nasty, insulting and rude.  God had an answer for all atheists:  "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God."  Here is my response to Henry:  (I realize it is preachy and in the form of a testimony.  Well.....the gospel is preached through testimony)

Wrong on both points Henry, Jesus is God. God is love. God is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and eternal. I love Jesus. He is my Lord and Saviour. Jesus is the mighty God. Absolutely nothing is impossible for Him. Repent, Henry. Give Jesus your life. Read the Bible. For starters read Isa.9:6; John 3:16; Mark 16;15,16 and Rom. 10:9. Life is serious business, and these opportunities to share the Gospel are blessings from God.

Elitist, Atheist Scientists And People Of Faith

Recently, I read an article defending science and lambasting religion, and people of faith.  The writer equated faith with ignorance and atheism with reason.  First, I do not like the word "religion" because it confuses things. Science is science, and I am certainly not against it. It is a system of investigation and observation designed to find answers in the natural world.  God created the natural world.  He created all natural laws.  He can break them if He wants to.  And at times......He has.  I do not see science to be at odds with God and His Word.  It is just that science is not able to do what God can do.  It is that simple. The Word of God provides answers. By faith, people then accept the Word as real. The Word of God is powerful. It gives society guidelines for living. It motivates, encourages, guides, instructs, corrects, and inspires. I do not remember ever seeing a scientist doing miracles. Jesus does miracles.....even today. It does not matter to me that I will be aligned with the "ignorant masses" for believing in Jesus. Scientists are unable to accomplish what many people of faith have accomplished, but they comfort themselves by calling us ignorant. Incidently, many people on this planet have not received much of a formal education. Does that mean that they do not matter? There is a great deal more to discuss regarding this topic.  Why?  Because a man without a formal education, but who has faith,  can be more powerful than an atheist with advanced degrees.  I know of an unlettered man who walked on water.  He could have walked longer except he began to depend on the conclusive evidence "provided by science" instead of depending on his faith in Jesus.  His name was Peter.

Toure' Is Mistaken

Toure' Neblett is an MSNBC co host.  Recently, he went on a rant thanking God and country for the opportunity for his girlfriend to have an abortion while they were still both in college.  He said "taking care of a baby and becoming a father would have  been  inconvenient" for him.  May God help and comfort him.  It must be uncomfortable. I think he is just a guy using a whole bunch of rhetoric to justify what he did.  He actually sounded proud of what he did.  Big mistake. Instead of defending what he did, he should ask God to forgive him and leave it at that.  He does not need to discuss it with anyone except his wife.  We all make mistakes, but the use of silver-tongued oratory does not straighten things out. A choice was made. A life was ended, and being cavalier about it is an inferior choice compared to humility and contrition.

Boy Scout Pledges

If the Boy Scouts of America need to do away with their organization instead of satisfying ungodly requests .....then so be it.  Let them cease to be.  The following information was taken from the Boy Scout web page.  Also, there are other Scout groups that are patterned after the Boy Scouts of America.  One of them is called the Royal Rangers.  It is strictly a Christian group.  As of now being "morally straight" and obeying God are key elements for Boy Scouts.

Boy Scout Oath or Promise  On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Note that the Boy Scout Oath has traditionally been considered to have three promises. Those three promises are delineated by the semicolons in the Oath, which divide it into three clauses. The three promises of the Scout Oath are, therefore:

•Duty to God and country,     •Duty to other people, and        •Duty to self

DUTY TO GOD AND COUNTRY: Your family and religious leaders teach you to know and serve God. By following these teachings, you do your duty to God.

Men and women of the past worked to make America great, and many gave their lives for their country. By being a good family member and a good citizen, by working for your country's good and obeying its laws, you do your duty to your country. Obeying the Scout Law means living by its 12 points.

DUTY TO OTHER PEOPLE: Many people need help. A cheery smile and a helping hand make life easier for others. By doing a Good Turn daily and helping when you're needed, you prove yourself a Scout and do your part to make this a better world.

DUTY TO SELF: Keeping yourself physically strong means taking care of your body. Eat the right foods and build your strength. Staying mentally awake means learn all you can, be curious, and ask questions. Being morally straight means to live your life with honesty, to be clean in your speech and actions, and to be a person of strong character.

Ronald Reagan Spoke The Truth About Taxes

"Our federal tax system is, in short, utterly impossible, utterly unjust and completely counterproductive,
it reeks with injustice and is fundamentally un-American...it has earned a rebellion and it's time we rebelled."

Ronald Reagan     (1911-2004) 40th US President

How Do You Identify A Christian?

Jesus said: "If you love me, keep my commandments." He also said: "By this shall they know that you are my disciples, that you have love for one another." He also said, "you shall know them by their fruits." It boils down to this: If a person claims to be a Christian; his/her claim will be substantiated by 3 main factors...1) His/her love for Jesus 2) His/her love for others 3) His/her knowledge of, AND OBEDIENCE TO..... the Word of God.

Stephen Hawking's Decision

Stephen Hawking chose not to attend a function of academicians, scholars and scientists  to be held in Israel, due to his support of a Palestinian boycott of the conference. This is unfortunate. Such a poor choice.
Hawkings does have some serious health issues that make traveling difficult. However, he is probably aware that if he will be dealing with academicians from Israel, he will be dealing with some "heavyweights." He too, is brilliant. He should take on the challenge and not be bitter, or jealous of anyone. Also, I am sure that he is intelligent enough to understand that the Palestinians have been given ample opportunity to establish workable solutions regarding their disagreements with Israel. However, Palestinians want a "non-option," which translated, means the non-existence of Israel. This is not going to happen. Israel just wants to survive, and it wants peace.  Hawking is an atheist, therefore he probably does not believe the Word of God as written through the inspiration  of King David:  "I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war."  (Ps. 120:7)

A Jefferson Quote, My Short Response

"Religions are all alike – founded upon fables and mythologies." (Thomas Jefferson)

Any faith founded on "fable and mythology" will fail. Lighting candles and talking to statues will not satisfy the soul. Only the Word of God can/will do that. The Word of God is eternal. The Word of God is God. It cannot be destroyed.  The Word of God is powerful.  The spirit of evil fears and hates it.  The Word of  God changes lives.  It brings joy and enlightenment.  It is alive.  The Word of God must not be tampered with or outlawed.  There is absolutely nothing like it anywhere or any time. Hitler had Bibles burned. How ironic that after he was disgraced and defeated,  he had left instructions to have his body burned after his planned suicide had taken place.

Enemies Of The Word Of God

It is basically an anti-Christian attitude that declares "you have no right to discuss your faith because of 'separation of Church and state,' we will not be going "back to a theocracy." Firstly, the US has never been a theocracy. It is absurd to even think that human national government is capable of doing such a thing when the main principle in this nation is the concept of freedom. We who believe the Word of God, believe that "the truth shall make you free." However, the enemies of divine truth fear divine truth. They like to discuss freedom. Freedom of speech is especially dear.......unless one quotes scripture. Is not scripture also word/speech? Is it not a persuasion, a faith, an idea, a philosophy? Is it not the truth? Yes to all 3, but it also makes a person responsible, thus uncomfortable. The Word of God is alive. It is powerful. It is spirit. And yes....it is attractive. Apparently, it is attractive enough to be on monuments all over Washington DC. George Washington stated that it is "impossible to govern a nation without the Word of God." Every student of US History needs to be taught this truth. Why? Because it is actual history. It is true.

My Response To A Mocker Of Jesus

Yes, my precious Jesus is incredible. He is the power of God and the wisdom of God. (I Cor. 1:24) He is my Lord and Saviour and I love Him. I have been serving Him for 38 years, and I have not had a bad day in 38 years! He is kind, merciful and powerful. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. Jesus is Lord. "The Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and is truth endures for all generations." Don't waste any more time. Give Him your life! Give Him your future! You will not be sorry. Please read John 3:16; Mark 16:15,16; and Acts 2:38. I am praying for you. ( read the book of Romans esp. chap. 5,6,7,8, 9,10)

Please know that eternal life is serious business, eternal life can be obtained by taking heed to "The Science Book." This book teaches one many things, among them, wisdom, joy, peace, guidance, instruction in righteousness and much, much more. including how to live forever. "The Science Book" is more commonly known as the Holy Bible. It is the only "Science Book" that contains the "words of eternal life."

Jason Collins "Comes Out"

Below, are two letters that I wrote to Town Hall magazine in response to an article written by conservative columnist Crystal Wright.  The article was about Jason Collins, a veteran NBA player who "came out" and declared he was gay.  Her article was entitled "Who Cares Jason Collins Is Gay?"  Well, that is my view exactly, and I do not consider it news.  Obviously, many do not agree.  I also wrote that I thought that Sports Illustrated was wrong because they made such a big deal about it, by having a feature story as well as a photo of Collins on the front cover, but that letter is not part of this entry, because yesterday I wrote a blog about the SI article.

Social justice? This has nothing to do with social justice. I do not believe in mistreating people. People should be allowed to live their lives however they want to live them. We all need to obey the laws of the land. Aside from laws, there are also moral codes given to us by God. What do we do about them? Just discard them because of a political agenda? No. And no, I am not a bigot, intolerant or a hater. I am a person who believes in the divinely inspired Word of God. I have been taught to love all people. Does this mean I need to agree with everything a person does?

Libertarian, the sexuality of an indiviual is the business of nobody but the individual with whom that person has intimate relations, and God. God has already stated in His Word how He views homosexuality. Regarding "content of character".............the GLBT lifestyle is dishonorable. Marriage is honorable. The push we are witnessing in our society is to make "gayness' honorable. This is where the conflict exists. All persons should be respected. But not all lifestyles should automatically be admired. Is not "content of character" exemplified by actions? Well....some choices will not be deemed acceptable by many. Is this so wrong? Is not this what liberty is about, Libertarian?

Tolerance...........Are You Sure?

I am tolerant of you.  Are you tolerant of me?  Do you hate me, or do you just hate my words?  How tolerant are you?  I have freedom of speech.  You have freedom of speech.  We both have freedom of thought.  You like to speak of tolerance, but the type of laws and government that you propose seek to take away my freedom.  If you are tolerant, then be tolerant.  Be tolerant of me.  Be tolerant of my way of thinking.  Be tolerant of my faith.  If you choose not to agree with me, then don't agree.  But do  not try to silence me.  Do not attempt to take away my freedom.

Shame On Sports Illustrated

I know it is on it's way.  I know it is coming.  I, for one, do not welcome it.  It is against the will of God.  Nevertheless, the battle rages on.  It is the battle between what God says and what pop culture says.  I know that pop culture has power and backing.  Sports Illustrated is afraid.  It is afraid to stand up against a wave that will seriously change the fabric of American culture.  Homosexuality is a sin against God.  A man must not engage in it.  It is evil.  SI would have shown a great deal of courage had they not reported on the first openly gay athlete in a major American team sport, and to not have his photo on their first May issue of this year.  Too sad.  Too bad.  This is too much information.  Sex is private.  Jason Collins, just play basketball.  Forget about politics.  That is what all of this is.........politics.  The pursuit of power.  The pursuit of legitimacy for a sinful lifestyle.  It is not necessarily the pursuit of acceptance, it is the pursuit of compliance with accepted standards.  Proponents of  this lifestyle want it to "join" accepted standards.  I do not believe it will ever happen.  I might be wrong, particularly since change is coming so fast.  However, since the "light of the world" is still here, they will continue to set the standard.  They will continue to be looked upon for guidance.  Those who use the Word of God as their standard for marriage and the family, will continue to be called haters, bigots, intolerant and other unkind words.  Sin is sin.  Sinners need to ask for forgiveness.  They need to repent.  I will continue to love the sinner.  I will continue to pray for all sinners.  I will pray for Sports Illustrated.  I will pray that when SI interviews an athlete who has faith in Jesus Christ, and is not afraid to give the King of kings the honor and glory due to His name, that SI in turn, will not be afraid to print it.  Should not SI honor the courage of someone?
