My Response To Holy War

“Jihad” is an unusual word for me. Why? Because Christians are also commanded to fight. We are told: “fight the good fight.” “Endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” There are more references to “the war.” But the war of the Christian is truly a holy war because it does not involve the killing of people. At least according to the scriptures. Before I see a bunch of responses in reference to the Crusades, historically, the “Christian Crusaders” went to war ignorantly, and not doing what the Word of God says. It was a political group of soldiers who were following the orders of an already corrupted Church hierarchy. Is a Christian supposed to kill people in war? Yes, if that particular Christian is fighting under the flag of a sovereign nation, but not if he is “fighting for Jesus.” “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph. 6:12) “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.” (2 Cor. 10:4) There is much more. Read the book of Acts. It is the true history of the early Church.
