Greed And Need

Maybe certain definitions of words do not change as rapidly as we think they do. Needs do not really change. Perhaps the ways of satisfying them, do change. Often as a result of the involvement of government. Below is an interesting quote by the late Joseph Sobran. He was a columnist and former editor of National Review. His insight was worthy. RD

"In the current political vocabulary, ‘need’ means wanting to get someone else’s money. ‘Greed,’ which used to mean what “need” now means, has come to mean wanting to keep your own. ‘Compassion’ means the politician’s willingness to arrange the transfer."
