Another Letter To A News Outlet

There is a high school in the state of Washington whose Principal is threatening to fire the football coach for praying after the football game on the 50 yard line with his team.  Here is my response to that  Principal:   Just leave people alone. Let them exercise their freedoms. Pray if you want to pray. Don’t pray if you don’t want to pray. Just leave people alone. Let freedom ring. So many Principals of schools and Superintendents of school districts are truly scared rabbits. Prayer and football go together like two peas in a pod. There is no NFL football team that does not have a Chaplain on staff. Why? Because everyone in his/her right mind knows that football is a dangerous sport. It is also a sport that requires a great deal of inspiration. Faith, protection, personal guidance, motivation, gratitude, and praise and honor for the Supreme Being are all realities of life. Prayer is serious business, and the devil does not like it. If players were rallying around a water bucket and talking to it after the game, under the name of “school tradition,” I suspect there would be no problem. Herein lies the problem: Nonsense is encouraged, while wisdom is discouraged. This, in an academic institution. The ACLU is waiting close by to “rescue” those who practice wise decisions….and attempt to take away freedoms while they are at it. And make some big bucks to boot!
