Have A Great Conversation....Ask Questions

Obviously, it is practically impossible to have a meaningful conversation with someone without asking questions.  Granted, some people ask too many questions. Some people are nosy.  Others are genuinely interested in how and/or what you are doing.  It takes wisdom to ask the right questions.  Not everyone we know is a "people person."  It does not mean that they are hateful or rude.  Sometimes they are shy.  Sometimes they are too proud to make a mistake, so they say nothing.  Sometimes they do not know very much, and are afraid to engage someone in a conversation.  That last group can use their lack of knowledge to ask questions and learn something while gaining an opportunity to enjoy a pleasant conversation.  It is my view that there are many, things of interest in this world.  But the most interesting "things" are human beings.  They can truly enrich you, and you can enrich them.  Have a great conversation.  Don't forget to ask some good questions.  If you want to take it to a higher level, be sure to love the person with whom you are talking.

Fran Tarkenton

Fran Tarkenton played in the NFL for 18 seasons.  He was not physically big but he was aggressive.  He played for the Minnesota Vikings.   I consider him  the greatest quarterback to ever step on a football field but most fans do not agree with me.  Tarkenton still tops the record books for rushing yards by a quarterback.  He also leads in passing completions, touchdowns, and passing yardage.  He played in 9 Pro Bowls.  He was voted the NFL MVP one time.  I am convinced that the main reason he is not considered the greatest quarterback is because he never won a Super Bowl.  In the end I think the judgment is fair due to the fact that great quarterbacks win world championships.  However, on the other hand, the numbers don't lie.  He accomplished what he accomplished.

Another Sad Day At West Point

This is not the way that God intended it to be.  Last year, 6 same-sex couples had their wedding ceremonies held at the United States Military Academy at West Point.  I have written about it before.  They were all women.  How very sad.  To add to the spiritual/moral corruption of our great nation, on Saturday November 2, 2013, West Point hosted  the first wedding ceremony in its history, of two men.   This represents to me, the vindication and legitimization of debauchery by our government and one of its greatest institutions of higher learning.  To say that I am disappointed is an understatement.  I do not know why I take something like this with so much grief.  Maybe it is because I hold the military to a higher standard.  I suppose the main reason lies in the first statement of this paragraph...............This is not the way that God intended it to be.

Thomas Jefferson And Moral Laws

"Hey, what if everybody else did that"?  He was asked.  He responded by saying:  "I don't care about everybody else, I'll do what I want to do."  It may sound clear, but it does not make sense.  Although he may not have participated in the above conversation, a long time ago, Thomas Jefferson offered a reasonable response to the above scenario.

"It is strangely absurd to suppose that a million human beings, collected together, are not under the same moral laws which bind each of them separately."

Satchel Paige

Satchel Paige was born on July 7, 1906 and passed away on June 8, 1982.  He was a great baseball player.  He was an African-American.  Since major league baseball was segregated for many years, Paige played in the professional negro leagues.  Paige was the first African-American to ever pitch in the American League of MLB.  I will keep my words short.  There is much to say about this man.  He made it to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.  But there is one statistic that I do not think will ever be equaled.  At the age of 42, he was a rookie in the major leagues.  Why?  Many knew he was great.  Due to racism, he was not allowed to be a part of major league baseball.  He finally got his chance.  He retired at age 59.

Thank A Veteran

The people who live in this world will never reach perfection here.  The governments of this world cannot possibly reach perfection.   They can try and try and try, but it will not happen.  I could easily turn this post into a sermon or a Bible study.  But I will not at this time.  I will keep my words short.  I do not know every human being on this planet.  But I know this:  I refuse to hate a single one.  You may think that my words are not coinciding with the title of this blog post.  They will.  Any society of people must have a government.  Every normal human being cherishes freedom.  Every normal human being desires to pursue his or her destiny.  They all need to survive.  They all need to be taught.  They all need to be given an opportunity.  They all need their freedom.  Some, because of poor choices, will lose their freedom.  Due to the fact that nations cannot survive without a military structure in place.......in this world as we know it, I will thank an active military person.  I will thank a veteran.  Although I am a veteran, I am not some sort of  "gung ho" military guy.  I did my time.  It was not glorious.  I did not go to war........but I did my time.  Veterans Day is coming up in a few days.  I want to thank all of those who serve.  I want to thank all of those who served.  Anyone who knows me well, knows that I thank military and ex military persons just about every chance I get.  For me, it does not need to be a holiday.  I appreciate them.

Whats Wrong With A Green Tomato?

Whats wrong with a green tomato?  Nothing.  It just needs time.  It needs nurturing.  It needs sunlight. It needs water.  It needs to be taken care of.  It is not ready.  If it is not ready, does that mean that there is something wrong with it?  No.  It just means that it is not ready.  But it will get ready.  It just needs to go through the process of maturing.  Give it some time.  It needs to be green..........for a while.
