Bullying In Schools

Bullying in schools can be reduced significantly. A school wide policy needs to exist. But teachers need to be the main players if bullying is to be reduced. Once a teacher told me: "I can't be the world's policeman." No, but he/she needs to take an active part against bullying, and not justify their inaction by saying:"Boys will be boys." No! I say: "Boys will be taught." Without teachers being in direct dissension with bullying; and taking direct action against it; it will continue. Teachers need to have a burden for the safety of students. They need to be creators of "school as a safety zone." Helping to keep a school safe is part of the job of every teacher. The teacher may not view it that way, but it is the truth anyway.

I agree that bullying should be controlled by teachers since most of the time that kids spend is at school. However, I think that parents have the obligation of educating and disciplining their kids not to act in that matter. Some people do blame teachers for their kids not having manners or ediquite but it all starts from home. If they are not brought up in a good enviroment how do parents expect for their children to pick this up outside of home. Parents are the first example in a childs life and then come the teachers. Parents lets educate and teach ediquete to our childrens so they don't turn into bullies and bad mannered children. It all starts from home. veronica

Veronica, I agree with you 100%. It definitely starts at home. When the parents send their untrained children to school, all children still need to be protected and be in a safe place. I think I will discuss this in a future blog. Thank you very much. Bro. D.
