"Righteous, Man.......Righteous"

I remember when it was "cool" to say righteous.  I remember when gangsters had the word tattooed  on them because it was trendy in their world.  How did the "Righteous Bros." singing duet get their name?  They were heard on radio, and the disc jockey really liked the song.  He exclaimed: "That is righteous brother, really righteous!"  So Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield changed their names to the Righteous Brothers.

Let me talk about that word a little bit.   It is not really a word that describes anything on this planet.  It is a word that describes God and only God.  To use that word in general conversation would likely happen as a slang word.  The Bible clearly states that nobody is righteous.  Only God is righteous because only God is perfect and flawless.

Some other words that are not often used in general conversation are holy, angel, heaven, and eternity.  When they are used in general conversation, they are usually included as an exaggeration or metaphor.  For example:  "Your mom's chocolate cake is heavenly!"  "Don't talk to my neighbor, he'll talk to you for an eternity."  "Holy cow!" (cows are not holy, they never have been, just an exclamation)  Or, "My kids are perfect angels."  Yeah, right.
